“Laser based micro-displays”
“Laser based micro-displays”
“Laser based micro-displays”
The Mid-Europe Chapter of the Society for Information Display (SID-MEC) invites you to its online conference in June 2026. Under the title “Laser based micro-displays”, experts from the display industry and research institutions will discuss current developments and challenges.
The event will take place online on June 11th, 2026, from 15:00 to 17:00 CEST and offers a platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas.
Keynote presentations will be delivered by renowned experts: OQMENTED GmbH MEMS-based laser scanning, VITREALAB vitrealab.
Hartmut Schneider (Vitrealab GmbH, VP of Business Development)
Hartmut Schneider is the VP of Business Development at Vitrealab, where he focuses on bringing the company’s powerful laser-LCoS technology to the market. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA and has a proven track record of scaling energy and technology ventures. Previously, Hartmut worked as Head of Sales at Novatec Solar during its scale-up phase and later founded and ran his own solar energy company. He combines deep technical knowledge with a hands-on approach to business growth.
Dr. Jörg Reitterer (Co-Founder and CTO of TriLite Technologies)
Jörg Reitterer is the Co-Founder and CTO of TriLite Technologies, an Austrian deep-tech startup developing next-generation laser beam scanning solutions for AR/VR/MR head-mounted displays, automotive projection systems, and other advanced display technologies. He earned his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Microsystems Technology from TU Wien, Austria, all with highest distinction. His work has been recognized with over 15 national and international awards and scholarships. He holds over 50 issued and pending patents and has delivered numerous invited talks and keynote presentations at leading conferences in microsystems technology and display innovation. He has also authored a wide range of academic publications in the fields of semiconductor laser systems, MEMS devices, and novel display technologies.
“Laser beam scanning for AR: The compact and scalable Trixel® 3 Cube architecture”
As AR moves toward lightweight, all-day eyewear, displays face stringent limits on size, power, brightness, and manufacturability. This talk presents laser beam scanning (LBS) as an alternative to panel-based micro light-emitting diode (mLED) and liquid-crystal on silicon (LCoS) architectures. LBS offers several fundamental advantages: single-mode laser diodes emit highly directional light from a very small source, enabling compact, efficient optics, higher wall-plug efficiency than LED-based systems, and a wider color gamut from their polarized, narrow-band emission. These benefits are realized in the Trixel® 3 Cube architecture, which integrates RGB laser diodes, beam combination and collimation optics, a bi-resonant 2D micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) mirror, and control electronics in just 0.8 cm³, delivering up to 15 lm and a ≥ 40° field of view, coupled directly into a waveguide. Real-time trajectory control relaxes assembly tolerances, and reliance on established supply chains supports scalable, high-yield production and a path toward sub-0.5 cm³ AR display modules.
The conference will provide space for discussions and interaction between speakers and participants and is aimed at scientists, students, and industry stakeholders.
The SID-MEC is the Mid-European branch of the Society for Information Display (SID). Founded in 1962, SID is one of the largest associations of scientists, developers, and companies in the field of electronic and information displays worldwide. Embedded in SID, the SID-MEC acts as a Mid-European branch covering a wide geographical spectrum from Eastern to Western Europe.
With a primary focus on displays, the association's forward-looking work encompasses all devices that enable image display, such as smartphone displays, projectors, AR/VR smart glasses, televisions, or display devices in automation technology. The SID-MEC is organized by four board members. For more information about SID-MEC, please visit: https://www.sid.org/Chapters/Europe/Mid-Europe
