SEMICON WEST is the world's number one trade fair for microelectronics. The trade fair, which takes place once a year in Phoenix, showcases the latest products and technologies in microelectronics and covers the entire supply chain. The exhibition is combined with technical presentations and networking events. Fraunhofer IPMS will be present at the Silicon Saxony joint booth to demonstrate the latest developments in process and material development on 300mm wafers. The comprehensive services of the Fraunhofer Screening Fab in the field of semiconductor manufacturing and development will be presented.

No other industrial sector can do without microelectronics and microsystems technology. The crises of recent years have shown that secure access to hardware in the required quality and quantity is necessary, from standard electronics to innovative approaches. New production capacities are being created in Germany and Europe and are also leading to new challenges in the area of recruiting skilled workers. Unfortunately, as studies by the VDE show, innovation tends to be associated with computer science, while electrical engineering is considered less innovative by students and teachers and is associated with “pulling strings”. SID Mid-Europe Chapter Conference: “Emissive Displays: OLED, microLED, and beyond - Technology, devices, markets” in Göttingen (Germany).

The second iCampµs-Cottbus Conference iCCC2026 from May 05-07, 2026 is in the starting blocks. Like iCCC2024, it is being organized as part of the BMBF structural change project “Innovationscampus Elektronik und Mikrosensorik” (iCampµs) and will take place at the Hotel Radisson Blu at Cottbus main station. The event, planned as a transfer conference, is intended to bring science and industry together, stimulate the fusion of knowledge and ideas and generate new contacts. Sensor technology, digitalization and AI are key technologies here. From knowledge to everyday application, transfer processes are crucial for success.
