With a budget of 50.5 billion euros, the 7th EU framework program for research, technological development and demonstration is the largest transnational research program worldwide and the central EU program to advance European research until 2013.
In line with the 7th EU Research Framework Program, the Fraunhofer IPMS made 14 submissions. The six successful applications were:

Decisive factor of this success was the close collaboration with the European Commission as well as European research institutes by focusing on future-oriented topics in microsystem technics and photonics, which display high utilization potentials.
